Football in Bremen

Bremen is a compact Hanseatic city with one of Germany's most atmospheric football grounds. The Weserstadion sits on the banks of the river Weser, and the walk along the Osterdeich on matchday, past beer gardens and fan gatherings, is one of the great pre-match rituals in German football. Werder Bremen's Ostkurve is loyal, loud, and welcoming.

The city has a UNESCO-listed town hall and Roland statue in the Marktplatz, the charming Schnoorviertel medieval quarter, and a growing craft beer scene. Bremen is smaller and quieter than Hamburg or Berlin, which gives it a more intimate feel. You can walk between the Hbf, Altstadt, and stadium in under 30 minutes.
